Frequently Asked Questions
Detailed answers concerning FINLOG's local-first storage, statement imports, currencies, and features.
Most finance apps require connecting your bank account to third-party data aggregators who store your unencrypted transaction history in corporate databases. FINLOG is local-first: your records live encrypted on your phone using AES-256-GCM. We also natively support Ghanaian and African mobile money statements (MTN MoMo, Telecel) and physical banknote tracking.
FINLOG includes an on-device PDF parser tailored specifically for official MTN MoMo and Telecel statements. It unlocks password-protected statements, automatically redacts customer phone numbers on your phone, categorizes expenses (Food, Transport, Airtime, Utilities), and allocates them into your Money Spaces with duplicate detection.
FINLOG provides verified isolated ledgers for 8 ISO currencies: GHS (Ghanaian Cedi), USD (US Dollar), CAD (Canadian Dollar), GBP (British Pound), EUR (Euro), NGN (Nigerian Naira), JPY (Japanese Yen), and KWD (Kuwaiti Dinar). Each currency operates as a separate partition to prevent foreign exchange distortions.
FINAI uses deterministic client-side placeholder tokens (e.g. {{fact_key}}). The remote language model is instructed to output the structural reasoning with these tokens, and your device substitutes the exact, calculated values post-stream. The AI never guesses your balances.
You can export your complete ledger at any time as an RFC 4180 CSV or JSON backup. Alternatively, enable Zero-Knowledge Cloud Backup in Settings, which encrypts your ledger client-side using PBKDF2 (100,000 iterations) before saving to Supabase. When signing in on your new device, tap "Restore Vault" to instantly rehydrate.
Yes. FINLOG Core is completely free on your device with unlimited transactions, unlimited Money Spaces, on-device statement parsing, visual burndown analytics, and a standard daily FINAI allowance (25 requests/day). A planned FINLOG Pro tier will offer extended forecasting and automated cloud sync in future releases.
